NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 4, 2018) – Legendary country music artist Mickey Gilley was presented the Calgary White Hat Saturday night at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

We wanted to extend our respect and the lifelong work that he has brought to country music.”

Mickey Gilley is currently traveling and performing both solo and together with Johnny Lee on their “Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour.” The tour kicked off earlier this year and the two have been playing to sold out crowds all over the country.

At a CMA-hosted press conference held this morning at the famed institution,Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwoodannounced Skaggs as one of three inductees for the Country Music Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
Later this year, Skaggs will be inducted in the “Modern Era Artist” category, along with the late Dottie West in the “Veterans Era Artist” category and the late Johnny Gimblein the “Recording and/or Touring Musician” category.
“I was totally shocked, and I burst into tears when I heard that I was gonna be the newest inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame,” says Skaggs. “When I came to Nashville in 1980, I came to play music and hopefully get a record deal. All of that happened, but I never dreamed that I’d ever be a member of this hallowed Hall. Why me, and why now was going through my mind.”

Formal induction ceremonies for Skaggs, West, and Gimble will take place at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in the CMA Theater in the fall. Since 2007, the Museum’s Medallion Ceremony, an annual reunion of the Hall of Fame membership, has served as the official rite of induction for new members.
CMA created the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961 to recognize noteworthy individuals for their outstanding contributions to the format with Country music’s highest honor.
“There are so many others that have inspired me, encouraged me, ones that I’ve truly learned from, and ones that have made such great contributions to Country and Bluegrass music,” notes Skaggs. “I’m humbled and very grateful to soon be listed among my many heroes in this great Country Music Hall of Fame. What an incredible honor. Thank you Jesus, and thank you CMA.”

17th Avenue Revival brings The Oak Ridge Boys back to their gospel roots, but with an edge. Under the direction of famed-producer Dave Cobb, the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame members touched on uncharted territory—and for a long-tenured act like The Oak Ridge Boys, that’s saying something. Somewhat retro, yet new and fresh at the same time, there was no vocal stacking and very few overdubs. For two of the songs, the Boys gathered around one microphone and let the harmonies shine, just as Dave Cobb had planned initially.

Since the start of their highly decorated career, the Oaks have achieved five GRAMMY® Awards, and multiple CMA, ACM and Dove Awards for their crossover brand of pop, country and gospel music that spans multiple generations.

About The Oak Ridge Boys:
The Oak Ridge Boys, who have sold over 41 million units worldwide, are synonymous with “America, apple pie, baseball, pop, rock, gospel and country music.” In addition to their awards and accolades in the country and pop music fields, they have garnered five GRAMMY® Awards and nine GMA DOVE Awards as well as the Mainstream Artist of the Year Award at the ICM Awards. The group—Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban—have earned prestigious membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame (2015 Inductees) and Grand Ole Opry, and are known worldwide as one of recording history’s most extraordinary musical successes. They have charted single after single and album after album, celebrating two double-platinum albums and more than 30 Top 10 hits, including No. 1 chart-toppers “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Thank God For Kids,” “American Made,” “Y’All Come Back Saloon,” among dozens more.
