MADAME TUSSAUDS NASHVILLE UNVEILS LIFE-LIKE WAX FIGURE HONORING RANDY TRAVIS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 1, 2017) – Madame Tussauds, the world-renowned wax attraction that opened its Nashville location in April, officially revealed their newly minted Randy Travis wax igure on December 1st during a special event honoring the country legend. Photos from the reveal are available via Dropbox.

To capture the Country Music Hall of Fame member’s likeness, Travis underwent a “sitting” with Madame Tussauds studio artists in Nashville. The research team took more than 300 measurements while Travis himself donated personal items of clothing to create a true likeness.

The figure is dressed in late 1990’s style featuring a suede embroidered jacket, jeans Travis donated himself and a 1991 Gibson J-185 guitar.

“I have been excitedly waiting to see the figure in person,” said Travis. “The Madame Tussauds team did a fantastic job capturing my likeness and I can’t wait for my fans to stop by the attraction to see it for themselves.”

After 40 years of dedication and influence in the country music genre, Travis’ legacy will be immortalized by the figure on display at Madame Tussauds Nashville.  Randy’s wax figure will be the 50th figure in the attraction and the last one introduced for 2017.

Each Madame Tussauds figure is truly a work of art, involving teams of professional artists and sculptors who spend months on extensive research and take more than 300 measurements to recreate world-famous icons, to achieve the kind of astonishing realism that has been at the heart of the 250-year Madame Tussauds legacy.

With a completely different concept, the attraction in Nashville is the company’s first offering in the U.S. that focuses solely on music icons that have shaped America’s musical landscape. Guests are encouraged to have fun with the famous stars from musical genres such as Country, Rock n Roll, Jazz, Blues and Pop.

Additional figures hitting the stage at Madame Tussauds Nashville include Beyoncé, Billie Holiday, Blake Shelton, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Carl Perkins, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Presley, George Jones, George Strait, Hank Williams, Jason Aldean, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Keith Urban, Kenny Rogers, Kid Rock, Little Jimmy Dickens, Louis Armstrong, Luke Bryan, Miley Cyrus, Minnie Pearl, Muddy Waters, Patsy Cline, Rayna Jaymes & Deacon Claybourne, Reba McEntire, Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and Waylon Jennings.

ABOUT THE BELLAMY BROTHERS:
Howard and David continue to prove that the trail they’ve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself—music that is now celebrating 40 years of success. The road that started on the pop music charts in the ‘70’s, took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s, paving the way for duos to come, such as Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Big & Rich, and The Judds. “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),” originally scrawled on a dinner napkin by David, rocketed them to the top of the country charts the way “Let Your Love Flow,” had done in the pop market just a few years earlier. It proved to be the first of a string of fourteen No. 1 singles in the U.S. alone. They’re the only U.S. country music act who’ve toured in India, Sri Lanka, New Caledonia and Qatar. The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers. For more information, visitbellamybrothers.com.

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country Music Hall of Fame members and five-time GRAMMY winning group, The Oak Ridge Boys, announced they will release a project with acclaimed producer Dave Cobb in the first quarter of 2018.

At a listening event during Americana Music Association AmericanaFest at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, where the album was recorded, the Oaks performed songs from the yet-untitled project recorded with multi-award winning producer Dave Cobb. This is the group’s second project with Cobb, who produced the Oaks’ acclaimedThe Boys Are Back album released in 2009.

For the new project, Cobb’s vision for the Oaks was to dig way back into their roots of gospel music. But a different kind of gospel. One that took a hard look at the early days of rock and roll, which was influenced by spiritual, or black gospel.

The album will be released by Lightning Rod Records and distributed by Thirty Tigers.

According to Logan Rogers, founder of Lightning Rod Records, “Everyone has heard the Boys sing gospel, but nobody has heard it quite like this. Under Dave Cobb’s direction, they touch on unchartered territory—and for a long-tenured act like The Oak Ridge Boys, that’s saying something.”

The event was hosted by Peter Cooper, Senior Director, Producer and Writer at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Kenny Rogers to Appear on RFD-TV

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three-time Grammy winner Kenny Rogers will appear on RFD-TV’s RURAL AMERICA LIVE to discuss his life, legacy, current final world tour, “The Gambler’s Last Deal” and plans for the future. Known for his instantly identifiable raspy vocals and an extraordinary ability to vividly inhabit each song he performs, Rogers has enjoyed great success during his storied career of nearly six decades with over 120 million albums sold and 24 Number One hits. He recently sat down with RFD-TV anchor Christina Loren to tape the one hour special.

“I really enjoyed sitting down with Christina for a great conversation,” said Kenny Rogers. “She was very thoughtful in her questions. In looking back over my career as I prepare to retire from the road, it was fun for me to relive some of the moments brought up in the interview that I don’t think about all that often. I can’t thank the fans enough for all of their support. It’s allowed me to do what I love all of these years.”

“Before the cameras started rolling Kenny let me know that no subject was off-limits. As the story of his remarkable life unfolds, he fearlessly opens up about his greatest moments along with moments of weakness,” said RFD-TV anchor, Christina Loren. “I think that viewers will get a better picture of Kenny Rogers from this interview than ever before as he honestly recaps his legendary career from start to finish.”

Kenny Rogers is a legendary music icon; one of the elite few who is instantly recognized around the world. A groundbreaking recording artist, distinctive vocalist and consummate entertainer, Rogers has played to millions of fans around the globe and has charted a record in each of the last seven decades. The first country artist to consistently sell out arenas, Rogers was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. He also enjoyed incredible crossover success — his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10’s is sixth-best all-time, and fourth-best among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers’ smash hit, “The Gambler,” became a TV movie, starring Rogers himself in the title role as Brady Hawkes. The movie spawned four follow-ups, making it the longest running miniseries franchise on television and launched a second career for Rogers as an actor on television and film.
