MICKEY GILLEY HONORED WITH CALGARY WHITE HAT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 4, 2018) – Legendary country music artist Mickey Gilley was presented the Calgary White Hat Saturday night at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

“It was a great honor receiving the White Hat in Calgary, just about like when I got the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was awesome!” said Gilley.

The Calgary White Hat recognizes the recipient as an honorary citizen of Calgary and is a symbol of friendship and hospitality that has been bestowed upon celebrities and government officials alike since 1948. Other notable recipients include former U.S. Presidents Clinton and Bush, the Dalai Lama, Oprah and the Rolling Stones.

“It is a distinction given to visiting dignitaries as an Official City Welcome, making our guests Honorary Calgary citizens,” said Kevin Hendrickson of the Calgary Stampede Promotional Committee. “Mr. Gilley was chosen for his lifelong work in the country music industry. We wanted to extend our respect and the lifelong work that he has brought to country music.”

Mickey Gilley is currently traveling and performing both solo and together with Johnny Lee on their “Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour.” The tour kicked off earlier this year and the two have been playing to sold out crowds all over the country.

About Mickey Gilley
Country music artist Mickey Gilley has been wowing fans with his haunting sound of Louisiana rhythm and blues since 1957. The Mississippi native grew up with his two famous cousins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jimmy Swaggart, surrounded by the influence of music. Gilley made his chart-topping debut with his song “Is It Wrong For Loving You,” in which Kenny Rogers played the guitar. After moving to Pasadena, Texas, in 1971, he opened his world famous honky-tonk nightclub, Gilley’s. He continued to show chart success with hits like “City Lights” and “Don’t The Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time,” both of which reached number one on the Billboard Country chart. In 1980, Gilley appeared in the film “Urban Cowboy” alongside John Travolta and Johnny Lee. At age 82, Gilley is still going strong and is currently on the Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour alongside Johnny Lee, playing more than 40 dates across the United States in 2018.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – With the release of their highly anticipated new album 17th Avenue Revival (March 16, Lightning Rod Records), The Oak Ridge Boys are hitting the Big Apple this week where the quartet will make appearances on Good Day NY, Varney & Company, Access Hollywood, PBS’s METRO FOCUS, Fox & Friends, IMUS in the Morning, SiriusXM, and much more! In addition, Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden and Richard Sterban will also make appearances on The 700 Club, DoYouRemember?, Paste, Nashville Insider, RFD-TV, The Big Interview with Dan Rather, Cheddar, LifeMinute, Heartland, Jesus Calling, Southern Living, Fox News Radio, Celeb Secrets, Country Rebel, and Larry’s Country Diner with hit times coming soon!!!

17th Avenue Revival brings The Oak Ridge Boys back to their gospel roots, but with an edge. Under the direction of famed-producer Dave Cobb, the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music Hall of Fame members touched on uncharted territory—and for a long-tenured act like The Oak Ridge Boys, that’s saying something. Somewhat retro, yet new and fresh at the same time, there was no vocal stacking and very few overdubs. For two of the songs, the Boys gathered around one microphone and let the harmonies shine, just as Dave Cobb had planned initially.

Since the start of their highly decorated career, the Oaks have achieved five GRAMMY® Awards, and multiple CMA, ACM and Dove Awards for their crossover brand of pop, country and gospel music that spans multiple generations.

About The Oak Ridge Boys:
The Oak Ridge Boys, who have sold over 41 million units worldwide, are synonymous with “America, apple pie, baseball, pop, rock, gospel and country music.” In addition to their awards and accolades in the country and pop music fields, they have garnered five GRAMMY® Awards and nine GMA DOVE Awards as well as the Mainstream Artist of the Year Award at the ICM Awards. The group—Joe Bonsall, Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban—have earned prestigious membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame (2015 Inductees) and Grand Ole Opry, and are known worldwide as one of recording history’s most extraordinary musical successes. They have charted single after single and album after album, celebrating two double-platinum albums and more than 30 Top 10 hits, including No. 1 chart-toppers “Elvira,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Thank God For Kids,” “American Made,” “Y’All Come Back Saloon,” among dozens more. ABOUT THE BELLAMY BROTHERS:
Howard and David continue to prove that the trail they’ve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself—music that is now celebrating 40 years of success. The road that started on the pop music charts in the ‘70’s, took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s, paving the way for duos to come, such as Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Big & Rich, and The Judds. “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),” originally scrawled on a dinner napkin by David, rocketed them to the top of the country charts the way “Let Your Love Flow,” had done in the pop market just a few years earlier. It proved to be the first of a string of fourteen No. 1 singles in the U.S. alone. They’re the only U.S. country music act who’ve toured in India, Sri Lanka, New Caledonia and Qatar. The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers. For more information, visitbellamybrothers.com.

Kenny Rogers to Appear on RFD-TV

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Three-time Grammy winner Kenny Rogers will appear on RFD-TV’s RURAL AMERICA LIVE to discuss his life, legacy, current final world tour, “The Gambler’s Last Deal” and plans for the future. Known for his instantly identifiable raspy vocals and an extraordinary ability to vividly inhabit each song he performs, Rogers has enjoyed great success during his storied career of nearly six decades with over 120 million albums sold and 24 Number One hits. He recently sat down with RFD-TV anchor Christina Loren to tape the one hour special.

“I really enjoyed sitting down with Christina for a great conversation,” said Kenny Rogers. “She was very thoughtful in her questions. In looking back over my career as I prepare to retire from the road, it was fun for me to relive some of the moments brought up in the interview that I don’t think about all that often. I can’t thank the fans enough for all of their support. It’s allowed me to do what I love all of these years.”

“Before the cameras started rolling Kenny let me know that no subject was off-limits. As the story of his remarkable life unfolds, he fearlessly opens up about his greatest moments along with moments of weakness,” said RFD-TV anchor, Christina Loren. “I think that viewers will get a better picture of Kenny Rogers from this interview than ever before as he honestly recaps his legendary career from start to finish.”

Kenny Rogers is a legendary music icon; one of the elite few who is instantly recognized around the world. A groundbreaking recording artist, distinctive vocalist and consummate entertainer, Rogers has played to millions of fans around the globe and has charted a record in each of the last seven decades. The first country artist to consistently sell out arenas, Rogers was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013. He also enjoyed incredible crossover success — his 28 Billboard Adult Contemporary Top 10’s is sixth-best all-time, and fourth-best among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Elvis Presley. Rogers’ smash hit, “The Gambler,” became a TV movie, starring Rogers himself in the title role as Brady Hawkes. The movie spawned four follow-ups, making it the longest running miniseries franchise on television and launched a second career for Rogers as an actor on television and film.
